These notes recognize TOP performers from our July 14, 2018 video workout in Cidra PR.

SS Juan Torres (2016 HS Class / Orocovis PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
 https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/juanchyman12/

Report: Plus runner, has registered 6.5 times before.  Solid footwork & lateral range for a Shortstop.  Overall smooth actions defensively, yet can improve on infield throw accuracy with repetitions since arm strength is evident.  Offensively keeps hands inside well, can drive hard line drives to gaps.  Hit .300%+ for NJCAA World Series JUCO Team, steals bases.  Looking to transfer to JUCO or 4 Yr School, 3 years of eligibility left.

C Luis M. Rodríguez (2019 HS Class / Canovanas PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/luisma12/

Report: Recently converted to catching with an ideal frame & arm action for the position, popped 2.0 – 2.2 while showing good mobility & adequate receiving skills given lack of experience at the position.  Offensively showed a simple setup with hands close to head, can generate better angle and lift with minor offensive tweaks but the ability to drive the ball is there.  Ran average for a Catcher at 7.2/60 but has recorded better times.  Great bloodlines, father was a legendary volleyball player for 24 seasons in Puerto Rico’s Highest Amateur Level.  Very projectable and will continue to improve behind the plate.

INF/OF Rafael Lugo (2017 HS Class / Trujillo Alto PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/rafalugo21/

Report: Sure-handed, valuable glove with soft hands, good range, and playable range at SS.  Usually average runner with 7.0 times.  Can play INF & OF.  Offensively more of a whole field contact approach than a pull one.  Can improve offensively with some mechanical adjustments.

OF Ian Velazquez (2020 HS Class / Carolina PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/ivelazquez

Report: Huge Upside.  6-2 wiry frame with a TON of projection left.  6.7 runner, showed good arm strength and carry on throws.  Moves very well in the OF, can play CF.  Offensively hits with an ideal angle for lifting the ball and makes solid contact with a knack for barreling the ball, drove several pitches with authority to his pull side.  Will hit for more power as he fills out and continues to develop physically.

C Ivan Arce (2016 HS Class / Rio Grande PR)

B/T: L/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/guerrillero33/

Report: Quick twitch, athletic catcher with a powerful bat.  Strong arms & wrists create real bat speed with a 68 MPH Max Barrel Speed from a compact swing with the ability to turn some pitches in the inner half into souvenirs with his loft.  Very mobile behind the plate, 1.9 – 2.0 pop times, needs repetitions on the receiving end to improve his framing but the arm is more than adequate.  Very good runner for a catcher, ran a 6.93/60 and can also play the outfield.  19 years old with projection left.  Real upside left.  4 years of College Eligibility.

C Bryan Morales (2018 HS Class / Canovanas PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/bryanmorales/

Report: Stocky, physical catcher with strong forearms and build.  Pop timed at 2.2 regularly, showed good catch and throw technique, can still improve his footwork when throwing to bases but the hands and arm are very playable.  Offensively hits with a toe tap and hands back, made solid contact on several pitches over the plate, and needs to keep hands inside in swing to better manage the pitch inside.  Below average runner.

OF Luis Cortes (2018 HS Class / Rio Grande PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/lcortes1717/

Report:  Somewhat limited to play an OF corner by below-average speed, fits better as a catcher where he has experience playing or as a 1st baseman.  Bat projects better but still needs to shorten up to use his high angle swing to hit pitches in front to the pull side where he could generate the most thump.  Could really benefit by some adjustments to improve his set and timing.

OF Francisco Garcia (2018 HS Class)

B/T: L/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/francisco33/

Report:  Limited by lack of foot speed which can improve with better conditioning and work on agility.  Fielded well, arm strength is below average.  Has a toe tap offensively from a low set position, arms could benefit from less movement to maximize the whole field approach he showed.  Contact oriented approach.

RHP Christopher Morales (2019 HS Class / Comerio PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/chris_27/

Report:  Quick, sneaky arm.  Stocky, strong build.  Threw a lively 83-86 T89 MPH FB with arm side run and a T2,095 Spin Rate from a low ¾ arm angle.  Deceptive delivery, really pushes off his right leg and hides the ball very well with good tempo before he breaks to the plate.  Also threw a slurvy 2 plane CV with a T2,102 Spin Rate which is developing but nevertheless showed potential.  Should continue to develop and add velo.

RHP Elvin Cordero (2019 HS Class)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/nemar/

Report: Ultra-athletic & projectable, 86-88MPH FB with very impressive arm speed.  Velocity will continue to come as he fills out his still skinny but strong frame.  Compact delivery. stays closed very well throughout with good explosiveness.  Could create better extension which should come with proper instruction.  Also showed a notable ability to spin the ball, throwing his curveball at T 69MPH albeit with a 2,327 spin rate that was evident by the late break and depth to the pitch.  Very promising arm with upside for 90+ heat before 2018 ends.

RHP Nelson Rodríguez (2019 HS Class / Guayama PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/nelson/

Report: Former position player who recently started pitching full time.  Athletic with a simple, repeatable delivery with hands close to his body and good tempo. Threw an easy 83-86 T87MPH that should increase as he generates better hip rotation and improves his extension when finishing his delivery.  Showed solid command and repeated his delivery well, a product of his athleticism.

RHP Martin Gonzalez (2019 HS Class / Cidra PR)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/mgonzalez/

Report:  FB sat at 83-84 T85MPH with a T2,176 Spin Rate.  Physical growth, Delivery adjustments and Jaeger Long Toss/Bands Program have been reflected in Velo which has increased 5+ MPH.  FB stays on plane very well.  Developing CV and CH show potential, Velo spike should be expected as he continues to grow.  Brother Saul is a 6-7 RHP in the Mets Organization.

RHP Kevin Natal (2019 HS Class)

B/T: R/R

643 Recruiting Profile:
https://www.643sportsmgmt.com/user/kevin_natal07/

Report:  Below avg Velo w T83MPH albeit with notable delivery adjustments that could help him generate more power.  Good extension in delivery, could stay closed a bit longer to create more deception & arm speed and improve his timing so the arm is in position to throw when left foot lands.  Athletic, can improve with proper work.
